I found out about this last night, and have been feeling a bit numb ever since.
Don't believe I knew Matty, though I've undoubtedly seen him around, but I've known Marie for quite a while and this is a massive shock. She was always badgering me to head down to the Pitstop on a Tuesday, but life gets in the way and I was never able to. Something I will regret for a very long time to come, no doubt.
I'll be heading down this week (tomorrow) to catch up with you all, drop off a card and try to come to terms with everything as part of a collective. Naturally, I'll also make myself available for any ride-out either for the funeral, or any charity ride that may be organised on the back of this utterly tragic incident.
Thoughts are with you all, and the families / friends of both Matty and Marie. It's weird, we all hear stories of how dangerous biking is and how people that others have known have passed away, but this is the first time it's ever happened to someone I know.
The only tiny consolation in this mess of a tragedy is that they both passed away doing something that they both loved.
RIP Matty & Marie - I'm sorry I never got to take you out on the VTX, but it'll be polished good and proper to give you both the send-off you deserve.
Much love to you all. Ride safe, ride well. x

Really struggling at work today can't imagine how there family's and close friends are feeling Glad it's not just me, just can't concentrate as my mind keeps wandering - it's not made easier by the fact that Marie's family are in Newcastle today seeing her body - God that's got to be unimaginably tough for them

It's not the way it's supposed to be. I have also really struggled today.

It is mentioned elsewhere on the forum, but for the benefit of none members, on Tues the 21st of May, there will be a short open air Christian service at around 7pm at the Pitstop diner, bowesfield lane, Stockton. All are welcome to attend including the Brown and Lee family and associates. It is expected that many friends of this popular young couple will attend, please park your machines in such a manner that Everyone can be in earshot of the service.
The service will conclude with a minutes silence followed by two outriders starting unsilenced v twins. These machines will be ridden away until they can no longer be heard.
The outriders will wait some two miles away. It is expected that those attending the service will start their machines and make serious noise for a short period.
This noise, when heard will que the outriders to return to the group. Cards of condolences etc can then be passed. In solidarity, we will find strength.

Just wanted to say I felt privileged to be a biker tonight. The turnout for our fallen friends was fantastic and I like to think they would have been looking down and laughing at the revving bikes. I also saw some bridges being built that I previously never believed possible. It's a shame that it took a tragedy to do this but it still does the heart good. Well done everyone. As I put on FB i just raised a beer to Matty and it sprayed in my face, I think he did that and was p*ssing himself laughing at me

A very moving experience this evening. We were all expecting good numbers but even I was taken aback by the volume of support.
I spoke to both families tonight who both told me similar things. Neither family was prepared for such a crowd, but the very essence of the crowd gave them some feeling of lift.
One family member told me that he had looked at this thread, its hit count and many kind words gave him strength that he never thought would be possible. Another brother told me he would print all the kind words from here and Facebook to store for days when he needed strength. I must say that personally, I too have taken some comfort and strength from all the messages I have read.
Matty and Marie's immediate family arrived on bikes tonight. This put a tear in my eye as I found it a very bold choice by both families. Whilst there are still arrangements to be made, I can confirm that both families will welcome a motorcycle escort alongside the funeral precessions.
Cleveland police bike sections have also stepped up to be counted. They too will provide an escort. Hats off to them.
Quite a number of Matty and Marie's friends leave for the Isle of Man over the next week or so and tonight was their chance to say farewell.
Matty and Marie will never be forgotten though and their spirit will live on in all of us. In life, there must be death. It will come to every one of us one day. There is nothing more certain. Matty and Marie's family will need some time, but when they are ready, I urge them to come and stand with us on Tuesdays, to come out and ride with us, to live for the future and not to dwell on the past. To live this life to the fullest whilst we still can. To stand amongst people who share a passion and who know the meaning of friendship. To stand amongst bikers.

One final word RESPECT. Certain people made things happen tonight. Photographs, written words, invites, message passing, Christian Bikers, fund raising. You know who you are, And so do I. Tonight, I stood proud alongside you.

What an emotional evening, one which I will remember.
Thanks to all who helped to make it happen.
I listened intently to the words of the service and thanked the guys for saying them.
