i have just spent an hour or so working on the bike in the hope of MOTing it next week when i came across a problem that greatly concerned me. with the choke half on (in the second position) the bike will happily tick over whereas in the no choke position it wont tick over. ok i'll give it some revs which i did and it kept reving and slowing . tightened the jubilee on the air inlet and did same again only this time when it stopped i caould hear noises to find that when i loosened the petrol cap you could hear the inrush(is that a word?) of air. this tells me its creating a vacum which cant be good. any ideas as im not a happy bunny at mo

have u tried to spray some starter fluid around the carbs to check for air leaks? also have u check plugs for signs if its running lean etc?

the idle screw does need adjusting ronny but my main concern is the vacum being created in the tank after only a few mins

Sounds like your petrol cap breather may be blocked.
Have you tried carefully, and for a short period of time, running the engine with the petrol filler cap open.
This should eliminate a potential vacuum problem.

Try using a remote tank to eliminate your fuel tank and pipework

anyone recommend a garage i know we are linked but bike is gonna have to be picked up. everytime i get it out to fettle it i notice something else so im in 2 minds to sell as spares repair and then waste more money on another or give up. i was only having this bike till may next yr as was gonna hand on to someone else but now times running out for me to see if 1 i can cope with my back or 2 i enjoy it enough to go for test.
thanks in advance

so latest saga had a great day yesterday putting a trike back together 33 hours everything went right
1hr n 20mins on bike and the tank without the engine running is not allowing air to escape as i could hear noises thought it was the wires as the bloomin awful italian wiriing has gone again no break lights and no nuetral (SNC gonna love me when they pick it up lol)
on hind sight wish i had never bought it but in reality i either get it fixed or give up on trying a bike and seen as i dont give up that easy im gonna take a break and try again tommoro and hope i dont make it worse lol

You could really do with cleaning carbs first, could be your pilot screws are out or you carb balance is out also, mine has similar probs a carb clean and balance fixed it
Also never adjust your idle screw unless bike is well warmed up and have u tried cleaning the air filter?
