Once you get it booted up try plugging hard drive in may be operating system fault more and could rescue documents

Easy recovery way, download a program called recuva and put it in a casing, i managed to get all my photos back from an important job on a card that had commited suicide into someones pint

sledge hammers gonna come out soon. So yeah it booted fine with my other HD so i went out and bought a new one. started installing windows xp, when i said 'loading windows' this popped up

Whats the spec of your motherboard and would it handle a decent graphics card? I can bring you my old Nvidia GTX275 OC to test if it's that providing it'll accept it?

Hmm, could possibly be an out of date bios? Had problems with that before... Is your ram installed correctly and your cpu? And when was the last time you cleaned it haha?

And when was the last time you cleaned it haha? was gonna try resetting cmos but couldnt find the battery its strange how it boots fine with another HD with windows installed! ive reseated the ram taken some out and booted still to no avail. paid over 1500 quid for it 4 year ago. back when i sold over $5,000 worth of shit on a game haha.

Aye I know the feeling when mine went. I'm thinking it might be a dodgy motherboard or even a dodgy sata cable? Try a new/different sata connection cable then if you still have no success looks like it'll be a new motherboard =/

I doubt a sata cable would give the bsod it would just not detect the HDD (still worth a try though if you have one about!) so sadly it looks like the boards fried, the cmos battery can be hidden in stupid places btw i had one that was hidden in between two pci slots on my old board, the joys of paying high prices for new tech its why i tend to get middle of the range stuff later on
