hey man,
I've got RRoD but ive fixed it multiple times and done the x clamp fix and all sorts as well as having it flashed but this time its got me.
It comes up and then when its loaded up it will be on for a few minutes or sometime it doesn't even get past the XBOX loading screen or straight away it will be RRoD with no display or have red hexagons any ideas?
ive contemplated getting a new/newer one as its one of the first ones released but if it can be fixed i'd rather do that, preferably the cheaper option.

I had the rings of death, did the x-clamps and bolts which sorted it for a while but it kept doing it. I took it down to a mate who is handy with his electronics and he confirmed the cooling towers on top of the X-Clamps were done for so I wrote a letter to X-box saying how dissapointed I was with their product and even though it was out of warranty I wanted some discount of a new one. Give it go lads, worked for me. Proud owner of an Elite big gig.

Proud owner of an Elite big gig. had similar story with mine rang Microsoft, sent email they checked serial number never been opened had RRoD they sent me packing label and courier pickup time within 2 days then 3 weeks later they sent me a brand new xbox360 elite with hardrive and 3new release games as an apology for there own faults in the original xbox 360 as they no longer have the same model helped that you quote there own terms and conditions of sale to them that they must replace with new equipment if proved faulty and under trading standards they are required to fix or replace it nice 3 paged apology and new xbox360 elite by saying wont accept another similar xbox for fear of it happening in the future worth a try guys in the very least you might find it has never been registered and still in warranty and get a good deal more than just a fixed xbox360

i think microsoft charge about £40-£50 if the warranty has ran out and it takes about 4-6 weeks to be sorted out (ring them up and ask you never know if this has changed it may now be free but i doubt it), most people i know say its easier to just go out and buy the core system again (just the xbox arcade for about £60-£70), its always worth ringing them up and asking tho! (say you bought it tho, dont say you bought it second hand!)

Its usually only short term though sadly, needs some new thermal paste to keep it going

We fixed ours twice but to be honest if it keeps going then its useless. Just bin it and get a new one.
