On the ZX ive had a couple of problems since i got the bike.
1. Wobbly speedo, 15% of the time it will settle at a speedo normally when riding at a settled speed.
At first i thought it will be the chain as it was stretched and foooked as you seen in previous thread,. but upon replacing the problem has remained the same. the speed is read electronicaly via the front sprocket.
anyone got any suggestions? the only thing i can think of checking is the reading unit is faulty (have cleaned this and still no luck)
2. Incorrect mileage was warned about this when buying the bike but didn't really bother me but since the miles are clocking up rather quick with hardly any use. on avarage it will say for every mil ive traveled, i have done about 1.9 mile, to £20 worth of fuel i do 250 mile which i think is incorrect.
I think the 2 may be linked together. but i thought it may of been incorrect tyre sizes but replaced them with correct size, then also sprocket size but as mentioned ive replaced with Kawasakis spec.
thanks for any advice in advance.

This thread has some information about the Speedo on a VFR, may be a similar set up on your bike.

This thread has some information about the Speedo on a VFR, may be a similar set up on your bike. Thanks Dave had a quick read although his fault it slightly different Speedo is now faulty. Keeps jumping around and reads zero unless accelerating. HELP My speed reads the speed and will bouncy at a rough speed (doing 40 it will bounce between 30 and 50) and i can't quite understand how he has resolved his problem it like a riddle haha.. Also some addtional info is that my speedo is analog (needle).

What specific model & year is the bike? When did the problem first occur, after fitting new chain & sprockets, any changes to the electrical system e.g. LED indicators or alarms/remote start etc. The speedo sensor fits over the engine sprocket bolt, have you had a chain & sprockets fitted recently? Electrical connections may need checking/cleaning. "Checked all connections back to the speedometer and they all appeared fine but I gave them the once over anyway. Took off the sensor again and cleaned it. Then I put a similar sized nut as the front sprocket into my cordless screw gun, insert it into the white speed sensor socket, let it rip and hey presto, working. Reckon it was one of the connectors but unable to put my finger on which one."

Was the nut on the speed sensor attached to the crank on my VFR. The nut had moved so it wasn't contacting the crank shaft properly. My speedo jumped around a bit and the bike recorded hardly any miles.
Can show you mine really easy if you want to pop round
