Has anybody done this? I'm looking at ordering a round headlight, and they all seem to be in the h4 style, but I'm not sure how you go from one to another as far as wiring's concerned. Will there be any problems as far as current is concerned? What difference does the wattage of bulbs make? I'm noticing some on ebay are 35w, some less and some more, is bigger better? I'm thinking of www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311359957552 with shop.tecbikeparts.com/products/copy-of-tec-universal-alloy-headlight-brackets-polished-alloy the dash/speedo is mounted independently to the headlight itself so that's good, and I much prefer that clear style headlight. Would it just be easier to fit HIDs?

The universal headlights from what ive seen are usually gash! Stick with what you have and whack HIDs in

I'm just not sure how HID's work and if the angles won't be just as buggered as the light I have now :/

Can you not just find a breaking er-6 and get a light off that?

Swapping bulb types is quite easy ... You just need to buy the appropriate H4 plug and rewire the old wires to it.
As for current I wouldn't go too far above what the OEM wattage is, as not only could you have the overheating problems you could end up with Plod slapping you for blinding oncoming drivers.

The H11's have two bulbs (one for high and one for low), whereas the H4's have one bulb for both. How would I wire the new one up in this case?
I can't believe I haven't managed to get it fixed yet. The bike's unusable unless I do, and there's only a couple days until I go back to work... Getting reeeaaaaaal bloody sick of such a stupid problem. I can't even figure out why it's like it is in the first place. There's no reason I can think of that would mean the low beam is okay and the high beam points at the same angle (way too low) because they're not independently adjustable.

Yea ... The H11 has two pins - a neutral and a live wire.
The H4 has 3 pins ... Neutral and two live .... One live wire lights the dipped and one the main beam.
So you wire in one neutral (From any H11 feed) and both the separate H11 live wires to the H4 plug (One to the dip and one to the main).
Get my drift ?
Also ... If both H11's are running from the same circuit .. Then if they are both 35w, you should be able to run up to 70w in a single H4 without causing any damage.
