most people go for the Tom Tom..seem to be the best maps? i use a Garmin Street pilotIII, its quite old, but does the job, and can be bought quite cheap on Ebay. But as above, the option of a Givi bag is a good alternative, not sure how true it is but i was told that bike sat navs besides being waterproof also have built in shock absorbing due to their intended use? Where as car 1s dont. But plenty of people use a car1,

Bought a Garmin Zumo 220 yesterday, all hardware mounted on bike, just need to "pair up" Autocom dongle and Sat Nav to get directions into my helmet.
The Mapsource software for route planning etc. is brilliant, planned routes can be downloaded into Sat Nav.
Have used it in the car and it is fine.
Looking forward to using it on the bike.

I have a garmin nuvi 310 which has been relegated to the wife's car and I use the garmin 660. Find it great for both car and bike. Easy to use nice size screen and the 3d element is good too.

Carl, do you use a communication system between Sat Nav and your helmet? If so, is it Bluetooth or hardwired?

Hi Dave I use the Carberg blue tooth with my lid, but if I want to listen to some tunes while riding I hardwire it with small earphones as the speakers on the Cargerg aren't really upto the job for music also found that the Tomtom blue tooth wont pair with the Garmin

Regnarts, which Sat Nav have you got and does the Carberg Bluetooth allow you to listen to the spoken directions in your helmet?

Dave I have a Carberg Justissimo GT with the Just Speak Bluetooth fitted in to the lid it wont fit other helmets only certain Carbergs it will give directions and you can talk on the phone as well as listen to music but as I mention earier a pair of headphone is best for the music as the carberg speakers are a bit tinny but no problem for spoken directions or phone calls the satnav is the Gramin 500 zumo
