Dave - don't want to state the obvious but you do realise the garmin has two separate volume controls?

Dave - don't want to state the obvious but you do realise the garmin has two separate volume controls? No, that is why I am asking questions, please can you help? Thanks. There is an overall volume level which is most easily adjusted by pressing the volume button which is the bottom button of the four on the left hand side. Once this is pressed the volume display appears and you can adjust it using the two top buttons of the four. The other volume control which is independent of the above is the tools (spanner button) --> volume --> Navigation. Adjust this up to 100% Also check the autocom volume is turned up. Do you have any volume problems when you and shirley are talking on the intercom?

The Autocom volume is set to it's maximum, Shirley and I both wear ear plugs and can hear each other OK.
The volume on Sat Nav for internal speaker is set at max. 100%.
Can't find another volume control.
When the Sat Nav is on the bike and "paired up" with the dongle/Autocom, pressing the volume button comes up with the message "set volume on Bluetooth device". I assume this means the Autocom which is set at it's maximum.
What model Sat Nav is yours Andrew, is it hardwired or Bluetooth through an Autocom?

I wouldn't connect the zumo to the autocom using the dongle, but a lead (autocom part 1308 I think) from the unit to autocom Aux 3 (on the super avi pro). Only use the dongle for hooking up the phone.

I believe that the 220 is Bluetooth only, and cannot be hardwired, hence the dongle.
I bought the full package from Barrie Robson at York, they have been very good so far and offered to help with volume problem.
I will also speak to both Garmin and Autocom for advice, will keep you posted with progress.

Hi Dave just been reading the manual for the 220 and your right it does not have a input connecter for hardwire headphones think your snookered on that one all I can say is try different bluetooths to see which works best if you wish you can try my Carberg out to see how that works

Have spoken to both Garmin and Autocom.
It would appear that the new Garmin motorcycle Sat Navs are based on car software and therefore the output volumes are less than previous models.
Autocom have suggested I look at moulded ear plugs which include speakers and can be hooked up to their base units.
Bluetooth helmet to helmet or for Sat Nav was not advised due to battery life.
I may contact Plugzz (Site Sponsor) to look at moulded ear plugs with speakers.
I will see how I get on with existing set up before making any changes.

Hi Craig, the Sat Nav is charged on the bike, this is not a problem.
The Autocom (wired) helmet to helmet communication system is also powered off the bike.
I have no experience of Bluetooth wireless systems, either helmet to helmet or Sat Nav to helmet, and how they are they are powered.

I use a system for my gps when its in my backpack and all you use is two AA batteries in a container which attatches to the satnav, im pretty sure you would be able to get a connector for the bluetooth helmet, although it would depend on the helmets connection type and charging method. Im not sure how much it would help with the volume issue though

It would appear that the new Garmin motorcycle Sat Navs are based on car software and therefore the output volumes are less than previous models. Garmin have confirmed that all their current motorcycle Sat Navs, i.e. 220, 550 and 660 all have the same volume output and there is no reduction in output as previously suggested.

Jondc has been round with his 660, I have tried it through my Autocom system, the volume level is far superior to that of the 220 and more like I expected.

Been back to Barrie Robson today, they agreed to upgrade the 220 to a 660, the volume of which I find far superior. I would like to thank all at Robson's for their co-operation and assistance in fitting the 660 so that I could ride away with it in use. They have provided excellent advice and service on both Garmin and Autocom products.
