I have a canon MP640 wireless printer that has worked well since I bought it just over a year ago. About two weeks ago it wouldn't print. keeps coming up with a message "printer not responding". I can still copy with it and print directly from an SD card. Just can't print anything from the computer. Any one have any ideas??

Firstly best idea is to re install the drivers or software that came with the printer, if theres no joy there is it possible to hook it up via usb rather than wireless to make sure its not a communication problem?

Reinstall drivers, if you dont have CD's anymore you can usually download from the manufacturers web site. Good luck

I've got a cannon different model. Got it off my dad, he said it wouldn't work, came up with same message, so he bought a new printer. I went on net downloaded drivers off internet and it works ok now.

ANother quick though, sounds very silly but the older models you could flick the wireless on or off, just make sure you havent knocked the switch if there is one

Try moving printer closer to router maybe? files.canon-europe.com/files/soft35580/manual/Canon%20MP640%20series%20EN.pdfWi-Fi lamp Lights or flashes blue to indicate the wireless LAN status. Lights: Wireless LAN active is selected. Flashes: Printing or scanning over wireless LAN. Also flashes while searching for wireless LAN access point during setup and when connecting to the access point.

sometimes technology needs a restart,. if you keep things turn onn (expcially PCs and printers) they tend to kick up errors as they use memory and when that memory is all used it need a "restart" to clear itslef and start fresh so if the printer is always on you will find that it may happen again,. and a simple turn on and off will fix your error.
