I remember about 12 years ago camping with about 8 lads at Brands Hatch. We had a brilliant weekend, and as we were packing up to leave I checked my tyre pressures (I'm anal about tyre pressures and check every time I use my bike). A few of the lads were taking the p!ss, so I asked them how often they checked their tyres. I was shocked that none of them checked on anything like a regular basis, most didnt even realise what the pressures were supposed to be either. I went around all the bikes and checked the pressures, they were all at least 10psi lower than what they should have been. Considering we rode 350 miles (packed with camping gear), all on country roads to get there, thats prety shocking! They all started checking their pressures after that.
So because im nosey, I was just wondering how often you check your tyre pressures. One other thing, do you know what pressure they are supposed to be set at?

Everytime I ride Gordon. Im anal about it too, have a little digi gauge on the key ring for it, have to admit Im a little slack about it when Im away from home, seem to have a holiday mentality when Im away,

Every time I fill the bike up with Petrol I shot 20p in the air compressor and make sure I have 40-42 PSI. I would rather spend 20p per ride to make sure its right than pay a lot more later.
I should invest in a gauge really and save my self some dosh.

Tyre pressures checked every time bike cleaned, and then checked prior to each spirited ride.
For me, that means consecutive days when i'm delivering courses. Make sure you do them cold guys, (unlike Track bikes where you work things out and do them warm) and invest in a decent guage. Garage forecourt ones are wholly unreliable, plus by the time you get there you'll have some warmth in them as well.
If you do it as regularly as this, if you do lose a couple of psi you'll recognise the handling difference and check it out.
Just a good practice to get into.

If you check the forecourt pressure guages against your own gauge, you can see some massive differences in psi readings.

I was shocked watching WSB this weekend and they were talking about tires spinning on the Rim, How the wheel balancing works against it if that happens.
I nearly fell off my chair, I never heard of this one

I nearly fell off my chair, I never heard of this one When I used to do Moto X and trials the tyres are clamped onto the rim to stop them moving, so I can quite image they would spin with that amount of power.

I check mine 3 / 4 times a week but more regular if I have done long rides in between I also use 2 gauges a digital one & a slide one - then x check they are about the same reading - I never trust forecourt ones
