it might come as a suprise but i dont know much about computers. Heres what i want. Something small but with a proper qwerty keyboard. . Got to have wireless capability. . Take up next to no room. . Be able to charge it via a cigarette socket. . Hold fifty or so photos on its drive. . Have a usb connection so i can store stuff. Also gotta play video and music (built in speakers)not bothered about web cam. . A travel computer for bikers with no panniers. . So that i can take loads of photos on the isle of man and bore you all. what do i need to buy ? Bearing in mind its got quite a high chance of being dropped. . Smashed. . Rained on etc. .Got to be sensibly priced !

It does everything apart from 12v charging - which is not normally an option on computers - you'd need a 12v ~ 240v inverter - but the battery life should be good for 4 or 5 hours, so used sparingly you should be OK. Plus, on the Island, you should be able to find someone to charge it for you.

Could you not run the invertor off of the bike anyway?

i think im gonna go with that. Ive got a small dc-ac invertor about the size of a coke can. . If i plug it into my home made leads ill be able to generate 240V From the mv. Charge rate for the lap top will only involve a low amount of power. Thanks guys for your help

Also bit of a weird one but if your leaving it in the tent etc or if it gets wet stick it in a massive sandwich bag in your bag

Better still - go to PC world (spit) and buy a neoprene case for it - a little bit of shock absorbsion and a little bit of water resitance

True - it all depends on how long he has for stuff to arrive - but I think he's ok cos it's June before he has to go.
