To ensure an enjoyable forum, a few simple rules are now in place.
Forum menaces:
Whiners/complainers and tormenting trouble causers (including karma abusers)
This type of behaviour will no longer be tolerated.
Constructive criticism by pm to the mod team..yes, but publicly pinning the blame for anything and everything onto the mods/admin and picking holes in the way the site is run....No!
If the mod team think you are more effort than you are worth...we will just delete your account. There are too many good people on here.
Those moderating the site have real jobs/real families and real commitments outside of the forum..we are not here to justify our every action or to tailor the forums software to your every whim we just want to talk about bikes
A new warning+timeout system is coming into play..
Should you breach these rules or become a menace, normally, you will be given a warning at 50%. This warning will remain in effect for a month. Should you re-offend in that month, your account will be disabled for a month.
Following the suspension, your account will become active again BUT your 50% warning will remain for another month. If there are no further causes for concern, then following this period the warning will be removed.
If you have personal issues with another member then deal with it by PM, not on the open forum. We trust that this will allow the forum to remain a decent place for all the users to come and discuss the wonderful world of motorcycling!
PM's must not be posted on the forum without the authors permission, anyone caught doing so will be suspended.
When posts are reported to us because they are deemed offensive / bad for the site etc, we have a duty to act upon it. The post/thread will be removed and put into the mods area for discussion.
If this happens,
Please DO NOT start threads along the lines of "WHY HAS SUCH-AND-SUCH A THREAD/POST BEEN DELETED?" or "IVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS SITE" or "WHAT ABOUT MY FREE SPEECH?"
Your thread or post has been removed or locked for a reason which, if you ask privately you will have explained to you.
Remember, free speech only goes so far. If your post could arguably cause a breach of the peace, racial hatred or incite violence/terrorism etc... its breaking the law. So dont give us all that "I know my rights guff" cos we wont buy it.
Please don not create second or "gimmick" accounts. Mods will delete both accounts if you do.
There is a facility to edit and delete your own posts, this facility should not be over used. If you repeatedly delete masses of your own posts, it makes threads unstructured and unbalanced. The mod team have agreed to deter post deleters by deleting ALL of their posts when this happens.
Please do not makes posts asking us to vote for you on some website, give you referrals for free merchandise of any kind or, any other semi-spam things.
Don't screw up the forums or any user on the forums. If you post a malicious link (any URL with spy ware or code designed to annoy people) you will be banned.
Do not vote spam on a poll thread with your friends because you don't like the person who posted it; this makes the voting feature useless.
The same goes for misuse of the karma facility. Karma is for the general use of the forum users. If the site log shows the administrator that you are repeatedly logging in every hour to hammer someone you dislike, or to bump your mates karma, This will be classed as abuse.
Stay on Target: Try to use the appropriate thread tag for your post.
This helps people find your thread and makes the forums more user friendly.
Respect the Moderators and Writers: The moderators are here to keep the forums safe, sane, and secure. If they ask you to do something, please do it. Please do not harass or intentionally annoy the moderators or insult the front page writers. If you do not like the moderators or the moderation, feel free to not post here.
Harassment:
If somebody is harassing you on the forums then discuss it with them over PM or email before contacting a mod about it. Please do not post others' personal information (phone number, addresses, emails, etc.). Try to stay out of other peoples' personal lives as well. Keep in mind there's a good distinction between the Internet and real life.
Accountability:
Only one person may use a forum account. Account sharing is a banning offence, so please keep your password secure.
Loop holing:
Please do not try to cleverly circumvent some rule listed here. These rules are general guidelines and are very flexible.
Small print.....
