Ill second that maybe they will just mask the fact She is dead and not bother with too much publicity some say she did well others say she distorted this country and beat its people financially ill tend to agree with the latter

Sorry to be controversial, but she was an icon, and she had far bigger balls than anybody in politics today.

Well, you know what I'm like Kev, I won't argue, because everybody is effected in different ways by politics, and that's also what's good about this forum, we all get to say what we believe without falling out

I thought that she was ok. There have been far worse (Blair the war criminal?). She stopped the government subsidising failed industries. Millions of public money were going into these industries. If it were happening today then there'd be an outcry by the same people people who rant about it having been taken away. As for Poll Tax, nobody liked rates beforehand, council tax since or the bedroom tax coming in. Taxes hurt and that's a fact. I do remember her for the pay rises in the Armed Forces, which have slowly dwindled away in years since.
Having said that, she's dead. Like her or loathe her (or somewhere in the middle), she was the country's first female PM and the longest serving one. She must have been doing more than one thing right, if some wrong too. RIP.

None of them are any good - full stop.
She made life so bloody hard for millions in the 80's, me included. I was starting out in my working and married life. A lot of people had it much worse than me though. No time for the woman as a Prime Minister.
Yes, she had balls of steel with regards to the Falklands but any Leader would of had to do the same at the time.
I won't wish ill of the dead but, she was not liked.
At least there will be no State Funeral for her (her wishes), probably knew that there would be an outcry if she did.
RIP

She pulled the wool over everyone's eyes by allowing the right to buy your house, so people got mortgages and in to debt then her master stroke was then attack the Dockers and the Miners they cant strike now because I have given them mortgages to pay every month there cant afford to go on strike BUT little did she know that the people were not gonna take it lying down and the country practically had a civil war.
I wont spill any tears for her I will be sing that famous song from the Wizard of Oz (Dig Dong The Witch Is Dead) So lets all have a street party on the day of her funeral.

I'm off out now to get pissed and celebrate that horrible witch's death.Good riddance I say. Iron lady my arse!! What a condescending title for the bitch that closed shipyards, coalmines and nearly brought about the demise of Teesside steel. Rant over, cheers.

Interesting points from both sides. i saw the guy from Easington twisting about how she had destroyed the community and it remained destroyed.
The first thing that went thru my mind was this. Mine shut, then seek alternative work. None in the area? Then work elsewhere. Or, do nothing and twist on about it for 25 years? I travelled to London for 7 years to work when I lost my job up here. The choice was to stand still, or to march and evolve. I took the latter.
Shutting the mines must have been a difficult move, but it will have been influenced by the massive pressures from the unions. I'm not saying that I agreed with her choices, but I have made a number of observations today, including Nissan and the rebuilding of beat up towns around GB.
Eyebrow raising stuff

we went from full employment to 3 million unemployed over night, with the true figure being probably 5 million with the figures being altered not to include woman or people on the sick! if you didnt become a policeman a teacher a nurse or a pen pusher then you went in the army , there was no! jobs to have ! it was desperate ,
