This trip to the isle of man took a nosedive. A friend of mine from the next village down (Ballaugh) was killed on the mountain road yesterday I'd known him just three years but it still hurts. So sudden and final. By all accounts, he was onto the mountain mile, came through a left hander at speed to discover a car driver that had stopped to take a phone call. Unfortunately the driver failed to pull clear of the road and blocked the lane. Given the unrestricted nature of the road and kevins love of the circuit, its safe to say that kevin was giving it some. The situation that unfolded in front of him meant was only left with an overtake option. unfortunately, fate dictated that another car would be travelling in the opposite direction, removing space when he needed it most. With Nowhere to go, Kevin opted to strike the stationary car, but died at the scene. A likeable chap who will be missed by his many friends.

Tragic! That's the only problem with the IOM, no speed restrictions outwith TT and GP mean that the Sunday drivers like Mrs Miggins switch off. I noticed this during my extended stay on the Island. The volume of traffic is vastly reduced but it doesn't remove the few idiots, farm vehicles or pedestrians from the roads......R.I.P dude!

I've spoken to Lee today and passed on my condolences and thoughts.
This is a very tragic incident and I can learn something from it.
I should always be able to stop within the distance I can see to be clear remaining on my own side of the road.
Please view this post with the best intentions in which is written.
