Arrr but thats where you didnt do youre homework properly.....Moto GB couldnt import AGIP which was the MV recommended oil and therefore Motul was given as the best alternative if you're gonna do homework do like I tell my boys and do it correctly Eh? Not sure what that's got to do with you saying branding is irrelevant and then getting your knickers in a knot over me saying it?

When my first RT went "Bang", the dealers dropped the oil out and measured the quantity to ensure it had the correct amount in. Not too sure if they would go down the route of analysing the oil for it's specification to uphold a warrenty claim. "Provided that an oil meets or exceeds the API and viscosity ranges specified in the handbook or manufacturers own specification if given, the warranty will not be affected. (By law, OEMs cannot insist that a particular brand of oil must be used to maintain warranty.)"

Honda recommend Castrol for my Blade but 2WS use Motul...which is a good oil and that's all I used in the Gixxer, mind Clint and I change the oil every 2000 miles anyway, best policy in my belief

MOTO-OIL.co.uk "We only sell oil from the main players – Castrol and Motul."

Same goes for car garages. The main dealers will use whatever they can negotiate the best rates for in return for giving the oil a plug in their manuals and websites.

The dealers will use whichever oil they're getting the biggest kickback or best deal on. I think my manual recommends 5/40. I'm sure coopers is currently banging in 10/50 fully synth on mine. Coopers don't sell 10W-50 anymore, they now use 15W-50 at £21.60 per litre, (not a viscosity recommended in my BMW manual). Think I'll stick to 10W-50 at £9.98 per litre, plus £5.50 p&p, a saving of £41.18 each oil change. www.castrol.com/castrol/sectionbodycopy.do?categoryId=9024084&contentId=7073092
