Anyone know how to fine tune it using the buttons/create a custom map based on a downloadable one?
Baisically I've got a big 660cc single, and it never felt like the injection was quite right, and as it had a PC3 on I figured it had been messed with. So I downloaded the map for a stock bike with no mods at all, installed it via my laptop. Aaaand now it runs worse. Anywhere between 3-4k rpm it's sooo jerky! Especially with only a little throttle opening. Pulling out of junctions releasing the clutch lever around those revs/lower it judders, and sometimes stalls a bit, too.
So I think I need to increase the fueling there? I know you can kinda do it on the box, I've seen videos how on youtube, but don't know if it'll help any.
Unfortunately I don't, and probably won't, be able to afford to get it setup on a dyno (how much does that cost anyway), expensive year next year!
Anyhow any help will be appreciated!

Sounds like the existing pc3 setup was masking the original problem. It shouldn't do that as stock, I'd give Chris smith a shout. For a few readies he would be able to diagnose the problem and probably fix it for you. Then when its running right you can tackle the problem of getting the right pc3 set up.

I think Stuart charges around £120 for a dyno run and set up on a regular bike .. Given that yours is only a single cylinder though , it could well be less. Give him a call, Northallerton dyno center. Number is in the site sponsors area

It's just a characteristic of the engine, they're literally all like that. The Yamaha xt660's mapping is supposed to be worse (Same lump). Do we think possibly a bottle of injector cleaner stuff'll help? 'Cause I wouldn't bestow working on the engine on anyone. It's a barsteward to get to! It's coal all round for Christmas!

It is a big single - what bike did you have before?

It's not so much not smooth as nearly lethal D= It just the fact it's gotten worse since installing the new (stock) map. Might have a fiddle with the box, but I think it's just a case of riding around the problem, since they're all like that. And call it character

Did you save the map it came with? If so put it back on and try it to see which is the better of the two, then try tweaking it.

Here is a link below to loads of different maps for the Yamaha-XT660-R. HTH. Just remember to save the two that you have at the moment. >>>>>>> link
