Just joined the site so thought I'd say Hi and introduce myself.
At 51 I'm new to bikes and have my son to thank for finally taking the plunge. I've watched bike racing and done the usual Croft / Donnington events for years but never actually owned or riden a bike, other than pillionon a mates Suzuki GS when I was 17, and did say that I'd put it on my bucket list! He bought me a CBT course for fathers day in 2012 so we did the course together before he went off to uni and passed it ok, so it was a case of what to do next, pack in or go for it? I decided to go for it and after a disaster with a training company not far from me I ended up going to TTR and in two 1 day sessions I had my bike licence! Great bunch at TTR, my sons going to give them a ring now he's home so he can hopefully get his A2. I've bought an Aprillia Shiver 750, mainly because it was a bargain but also cos it sounds lovely. As I've only riden a proper bike on my training and test days I'm still a bit tentative but hopefully the confidence will improve the more I get out and about. My sons just bought me a track day at the Ron Haslam Race school for xmas, not sure what to expect but I doubt I'll be setting any lap records
I would like to join up with others for weekend ride outs so I can learn how to really ride and handle a bike and get some practicle advice along the way so feel free to get in touch.
