Just after a bit of advice.
Got a decent compressor and the painting kit including a water trap.
Rubbed down the tank and the mudguards that im planning to paint gloss black, this is where im at a bit of a loss with regards to what sort of paints, technique and laquer to use.
This is for my track bike so it doesn't have to be a factory finish but Id like to make a decent job of it
If anyone has any experience, advice or tips all are greatly received

Yes Craig, don't use Hammerite smooth black.......it's produced in Satan's bowels. It also sticks to any surface known to man but still manages to look shite lol

Great thread craig , been baffling me about what paints and stuff.
from what I understand of stuff ive read and watched.
There is 2 methods both need a matching primer to the colour you are planning on painting.
You can buy gloss paint which requires the harderner in it and it saves the need to lacquer afterwarda, downside to this method is that the blemishes and drips are alot harder to buffer out.
the other way is to buy your basecolour which needs a thinner, apply 2/3 coats (sanding between coats with a very fine wet dry sand paper) and repeat the process for lauqer (which needs hardner in aswell) . Obvisuly missing the sanding on the final coat.
Then to get a perfect finish, you will need to get some cutting compound and use that with a buffer machine to cut any imperfections out.
as for technique, you best getting some scrap bits of plastic of metal and pratice. But you will need to set your compressor and spray gun up to the distance you are spraying. This will obviously come with practice..
Also as with everything the more you pay the better the quality of the paint :-)
please mr gonzo correct me if anything I have said is wrong :-)

Would the information you passed onto craig be sent to me or if craig can forward the info on be a good read i think as like i said i have done a bit of research into this as i have the equipment there and will be planning on trying it soon. Thanks in advance
