A few month back my m reg zx6r sprung a leak. Oil was coming from the very bottom of the engine. My cousin found the problem. It was a small cork like shaped bit of metal. He just hammered it back in. Hit a very very large pot hole today up at Darlington and the leak is back. Is this a common problem and are we fixing it wrong. Can't see any other way. And what is that bit of metal actually called? .

It's not the sump plug. It's a small bit af alloy about the size of a thimble.

Sounds as though it's an engine core plug has finally let go.
Easy to source and replace

Sounds as though it's an engine core plug has finally let go. Easy to source and replace I'll go with this, try some engine loctite on it before you belt it back in. If it comes out again, then there may be other problems causing the high pressure. Engine rebuild.
