The case is locked, the key is snapped (about 1cm of it inside, so not enough to be able to jimmy it open), and the barrel is twisted slightly - thus not aligned so I can't get the key out.
Does anyone know how to either get into the case otherwise of the lock, or know how to SAFELY drill out the existing lock? A replacement is £10 with two keys.
I'm tempted to take it to a locksmith but money is beyond tight, my mother and myself are currently in-out-in-out of hospital and I literally have no wage or sick pay coming for another 4 weeks.
Dunno what else to do :\ Need to get into it because both my chain, disk lock, and other shit's in, and I use it for the food shopping... Which is needed to do, like, yesterday.
Suggestions? I'm legit not wanting to do anything at all risky, it's a £200 box.

Is the back of the lock viewable from the inside? If so you could drill it out. I think it's that or the locksmith. Check how much a replacement lock is or it will be bunjees!
I hear the keys are notorious for being shit,,,once fixed get a decent one made.

I had to drill out a fuel tank lock last year. I worked my way up from small bit to large. It took a while but nothing else was damaged. So, it's possible but it takes patience.

It's beneath a cover inside, aye. barsteward problem is getting the case open to get to the innards to remove the circlip, to replace the barrel. Something about drilling... Just scares me. £200 is a lot to waste if I fcuk it up. Might just give it to my mate who broke it and have him take it to the locksmith, he can barter the price. I have no drill, nor patience, not mechanical sympathy.. It'll come out looking like Swiss cheese if I so much as look at it with a sharp implement

If the key is still half in, it will still be pushing the tumblers into open mode, put the remnants of the key in and try jiggling it open, with a firm wiggle and violent jiggle it could open..
next a decent screwdriver push it in and force the lock into the opening direction as you push the lid with force in opposite direction, its plastic and should buckle a bit, but bounce straight back.
Hopefully this will work, if not locksmith im afraid. You`ve just said it was £200, that will stop you being aggressive towards it, as its a lot of cash. Let a mate do it, without you being there.

Technically this is all my fault but the key must have been extremely weakened cause I didn't even notice it snap.
Either way I'll be the one forking out for repairs/replacment. So my question would be how much would a locksmith charge to get the snapped half of the key out? Cause the same happened to a lock on one of my cars and timpsons were still able to cut a new key from the two halfs.
