Just put new tyres on cos even though low mile lad in pub said tyres have shelf life. Welcome Barry, what advice did the "lad in pub" offer with respect to tyre life. This tyre was manufactured in week 14, 2011. www.moto-tyres.co.uk/reifenalter.html"If a tyre is stored properly it will keep its full performance even after several years (up to 5 years) and will be considered "as new". The age limits generally is around 10 years - a tyre should not be mounted and used thereafter."

Don't use WD40 as a lubricant for your chain.... It's effectively a degreasant and will dry the chain out... I clean chain with paraffin, wash it off, spin excess water out, spray with WD40 / GT 85 etc. This drives out the excess water. Remove excess WD with dry cloth and then lube with a decent chain lube. I've used Wurth Dry Cahin Lube for years, and swear by it...

Welcome on board Barry. Rusty side links can be cleaned with a drill and wire wheel attachment. I use (ready for the fallout) a petrol soaked rag to clean my chain if it's really bad, or a WD40 soaked rag for general weekly cleaning. I then apply heavy gearbox oil to the chain, using a 1/4inch paintbrush. Now, I'm not going to knock the dry lube that Nick uses, but what I will say is that if you use it, It's pretty much guaranteed to rain when you go out for a ride. Ask Nick. It always pisses down when he turns up for a ride out.

Pitstop is a cafe near to Preston Farm, Stockton. Normally the car park is full especially in summer. Bikes ranging from 50cc to ZZR1400's. Foods not bad either ! www.thepitstopdiner.co.uk/
