not only are they sponsors on this forum, but true to their word too. got a nice little deal on my renewal for the coming year! ;D and... a nice deal too if i make it a multibike policy... but i have a question: when they ask - "does the bike have any mods".... do I have to mention the coloured handle bars, brake levers, indicators, polished up some body panels etc... or just the performance mods (ie exhaust, airfilter and the like)? basically, I have not gone ahead with multibike insurance yet, because the second bike is not quite standard!! but just for the purpose of the quote to get a rough indication I said it had no modifications ..... the only real (ie performance) modification on the second bike is the exhaust (although personally, I don't think it makes a difference in performance - it just looks great!) what should I do?

i dunno about swinton but its always best to ring them and ask. im with MCE and they said i only had to tell them about performance mods..

I agree with Simondo, ask them exactly what they class as "mods" Would a bit of "bling" (coloured handlebars) count as a mod?

I recently switched to Swinton and declared all my mods on the GSX14. They said that for the premium quote they only used the mod with the highest loading to get the price from the Insurer (Swinton are a Broker not an insurer). In my case the highest loading mod was my Powercommander and this made no difference to the premium - probably because I am 40+ with 9+ years no claims. As this was the case I asked them to put the list of other mods on record so hopefully I have no comebacks in the event of the unthinkable. This they did. Over all I am very pleased with the premium price I got as they matched the best quote I had obtained with no mods listed. ;D If you have any mods it is definitely best to declare them but you do need to shop around a bit to see how these mods affect your premiums. Insurance companies will say that cosmetic mods may enhance the nickability factor of a particular bike and so they want to know about them....atleast that's what they will use against you if the bike goes walkies and you haven't declared them.

I don't think they are, had two bikes with them, one with only three yrs NCD, one with full NCD, sold the one with Full and tried to transfer the other over from TPFT to fully the comp policy and have ended up paying more per month due to cancellation/rip off fees, for one bike than for both combined. Won't be going there again, despite them being cheaper for a single payment option, Bennets work out less but have a higher comp excess price.
Come the glorious day....etc..etc
