I'm trying to transfer some music from i tunes onto a normal memory stick that you get with new Mini's for a friend.
How on earth do you transfer files from i tunes to an external memory stick?
Any help gratefully received, but please can you advise in a very simple way....
Thanks in anticipation guys....

i guess the easiest way is not to bother with the memory stick and just get the ipod plugged into the car why would you need a memory stick?

Select the songs you want in itunes (highlight them - i.e. make them blue), right click, select copy. Open up the memory sick on the computer, right click and paste

Struv is right - Last time I tried anything like this, I had to backup all the iTunes tracks to a PC and then extract the mp3 files from the hard drive.
iTunes also splits ups album tracks and stores them in all sorts of different folders.

Not easy this malarky....
Followed Aly's instructions, (or Abb's in this case). It would only save the 1st highlighted album and all the tracks had well dodgy computer language names.
When i tried to play them they played through i tunes....
So, me being a computer guru bangs memory stick into my lap top that doesn't have ny i tunes on and it plays in MP4 format.
I gonna give stick back to Den (Ogri) and buy him lead for i pod ....aaahhh!
Thought it would have been a doddle

Don't open iTunes - Go to music off start menu - Open iTunes folder - Open iTunes library - Select music (highlight) - Drag to memory stick icon or right click & copy to - desired destination (memory stick or new folder etc.)

Thanks guys, will have another try tomorrow night when my brain's not fried.
Another option is to load cd's onto laptop, not on I tunes and then transfer.

Like lots of these questions the answer is 'it depends'.
Apple are a strange lot - on one hand their devices are great; intuitive and feature rich (I'm typing this on an iphone). On the other hand, when you want to integrate them with the rezt of the world Apple is the work of the devil.
If you've created your library in the standard apple format then it's going to be a pita to get the music out in a format that doesn't take itunes to read it.
