all ipods will be loud enough. it just depends how much music you want on it, and what features you want from it.

ipods are over complicated and over priced. if your wanting something simple i have a 2 gb creative zen stone which doesnt have a screen or anything jus the play pause volume and track select buttons, and its plenty loud enough, they are cheap and robust too

the problem with the ipod is you need to install and use the itunes software whereas some of the cheaper devices are just mass storage usb dealies so you just plug in and drag the music from one folder on the computer to the folder for the mp3 player

Bear in mind headphones dont last long at high volume, you buy some expensive ones or get lots of pairs of cheapish ones on ebay

Ipods are massively overated and expensive....don't believe the hype. Archos were making 20gb MP3 players before the Ipod was born!! Sony and Ipod have very restrictive software for putting music on their products...so again.. be warned. Sony like to protect your ears so volume is restricted ;D

I've just put a 32Gb card in my Blackberry and use that, not exactly HiFi if you're riding a bike www.maplin.co.uk/inner-ear-noise-reduction-earphones-32255

dont get expensive headphones, bike helmets eat through them, something like 15 quid skull candys will do fine, also with regards to the mp3 players ive snapped an ipod on the bike before so i went to the cheap and nasty 25 quid one with a plastic screen and ive had that ohhh 3 years now
