For those of you who haven't heard of keith code, he is a riding coach and largely contributes to the california superbike school. Keith has been the foundation for many a sucsesfull racers career and today still remians one of the first ports of call for all things relating to bike technique. Just recently the california superbike school introduced the importance of counter steering to the DSA who now recognise it as a basic skill rather than an advanced technique.
Keiths books, I & II, split down techniques of riding (race or road) and explain them thoroughly and simply. Then giving you a series of exercises you can try to practice these skills.
These skills range from physical actions on the bike such as: Counter steering, downshifiting, cornering ect... To mental skills which improve reaction and decision making such as: timing, SR's (survival reactions), using your eyes correctly, mentaly preparing.
As a rider i found these skills extremely usefull and my riding continues to improve. i feel these basic but not well known techniques would benefit every one who wishes to improve there road riding for pleasure, safety or sport.
I can not recommend highly enough out of everything i have tried on my bike, from kit to tyres, keiths codes techniques. this simple prinicple that changing yourself as a rider rather than blaming the bike and buying crazy extras will improve your riding much more.
for people who dont like reading, keiths book also comes in a DVD which is very easy to understand. However slightly drifitng away on a badly scripted/acted american 'story line' when the facts come they are delivered well by a straight talking english person.
if any one would like to borrow the DVD and i do mean BORROW then just ask.
it really is great!
