If you get your bike insurance thro Carole Nash you get breakdown free ... Ive used the service 3 times and its always been the RAC that turn up. Thats weird as mine is through Carol Nash and it states that its through the AA haha The AA is what I meant, and 1 point for spotting my deliberate mistake.

A money making idea by AutoAid, thanks.
Had the RT recovered following a puncture which could not be repaired at the roadside.
Paid the man to recover the bike using a Visa Card, sent a claim form in and get a cheque for £518.40, bank the cheque until the Visa bill is due, make some interest "for free like", happy days.
The interest earned will cover the cost of a 1st class stamp.

When travelling by motorcycle outside of the UK, does your Breakdown Assistance & Personal Travel Insurance cover all eventualities? The following quote is taken from the White Rose Tours website:-"On all European tours (including Southern Ireland) we require clients to take-out some form of Personal Travel and Accident/Breakdown cover. This is essential for repatriation of yourself and your motorcycle in the event of an accident or medical emergency. We also strongly urge you to take out insurance that includes cancellation cover in the event of accident, illness or redundancy prior to departure, and which would repatriate your bike, even if undamaged, should you not be able to ride it (many do not!) We continue to recommend Gold Cover Travel Insurance Services as our preferred supplier of Breakdown assistance and Travel Insurance, they provide insurance which is tailored specifically for motorcycle tours and holidays, and can be arranged on a single trip or annual multi-trip basis." Having looked at my own European Breakdown & Travel Cover, it doesn't meet all the requirements, therefore, in the future, I will be looking at taking out more comprehensive policies. I know of bikes which have either brokendown or been binned on Euro trips, on both occassions, it cost the owners a lot more for the repair or recovery than insurance, is it worth taking the risk?

Worthwhile checking just EXACTLY what your breakdown cover ACTUALLY covers you for.......... Mine came with my insurance, and I never really checked it as I knew it was recovery to home so was happy with it,UNTIL......... I actually had to use it. 26 miles from home and recovery to home required..... Phoned up, only to be told that it would cost me £118.00........... Seems it was only covered for recovery up to 10 miles away from home, and if I wanted a lift home then it would cost me extra. Needless to say, when offered breakdown recovery this year,I have triple checked whats included in the price.....
