My cousin has a Honda CBX six - it runs and pulls brilliantly but is really slow to drop to tickover when throttled off, it drops fairly quickly to 2000rpm then takes a while to get to 1000rpm. Any ideas or contacts that could help please?

From my experiences with BOB's Bike, if the revs "hang-up" when throttled off, the mixtures may be too lean. Using waste gas analysis on each individual cylinder will identify what's going on, are sample points available on each front exhaust pipe before the collector box. Simon at Automoto Racing in Bellerby may be able to help with this. Are the carbs clean and in good order, no worn parts etc., NRP motorcycle carburettor repairs specialists in Manchester offer a full carb overhaul service, cleaning and replacing any worn parts.

Any ideas or contacts that could help please? No idea on the problem but they are lovely bike. Fond memories of looking in petite and france's windows when I was a spotty yoof. Especially the naked one as it showed the engine off much better.

You're very welcome Jim, I doubt whether balancing the carbs (vacuum) alone will solve the problem.

Mine had the same problem with the revs , it was found to be lean mixture and it was checked with a waste gas analyser . Mixture screws adjusted , carbs balanced ..... now runs spot on with a 1157 big bore kit .

If you ever think of selling that bike, give me a shout. I've wanted a six for years
