Time to get ready to go to work.
For tomorrow, much vacant staring and scratching of cojones awaits.

Try looking at the side stand switch, its often quoted as being the problem with cutting out and bad starting after becoming wet. plenty of info on Triumph RAT site. Geoff

Engine to frame Earth, coil failure, kill switch, side stand switch, neutral or clutch switch, fuel starvation (reserve tap) loose supressor caps after a plug change, loose plugs, poor battery to frame earth, blown main fuse, immobiliser fault.. Ignition short circuit to earth (check where wiring passes close to the frame) I can't think of anything else at this time Hope you get it sorted bud

OK, just spent a whole hour 1)taking the two bolts off the kick-stand switch to find it's a sealed unit, so there's not much I can do to it anyway, then reattaching it and 2) unfastening the only visible bolt holding the seat on and failing to find out how the hell to manipulate it to remove it.
I'm going to get a heater to try to warm the engine through, in the event that there's still water sitting somewhere and the heat will evaporate it.
If giving it a cuddle fails to resolve the problem, I'm calling in a professional.
I'm gutted. I used to be quite adept at fixing stuff in my youth. I feel like I've been emasculated while I wasn't looking!

What about charging the battery, if there is a charging fault on your bike a charged battery externally and refitting and then trying to fire it up or not would eliminate / point at a chatging fault, that is something you can do. If there is a weak spark a fully charged battery would help it fire also.

Just put the heater in the garage and it's started snowing. Someone up there has a sense of humour...
Starting to think that if it's something simple, then it won't cost much if I get someone to have a look at it. If it's not something simple, then I'm going to need to get someone to have a look at it anyway.

OK, in the absence of a tester, used the screwdriver method. I'm going to stick my neck out and say there's no spark.

How close did you hold the screwdriver to any uninsulated metalwork, was the screwdriver a good fit/connection in the plug cap.
Removing the spark plug & grounding it is probably a more reliable method.
Did you check both cylinders.

Checked both. Tried yesterday with the actual plug out but it's difficult to know if the metal they were held against was actually a good earth. Lots of chromed boltheads, painted surfaces and bits that aren't steel. Add to that the physical problem of having to sit on the bike to raise the kickstand, hold the plug-lead and press the electric start. I'll recruit an extra pair of hands and try again tomorrow.

Cheers all. I've taken the other option and contacted the vendor. Awaiting resolution.

They're picking it up tomorrow to take back to Wolverhampton to fix. Then they want me to either go down, collect it in my van / ride it back again / pay £80 delivery.
