It's nearly time to get my ZZR started, and its probably going to run like a bag of spanners for a bit, any tips for getting it running well again that don't involve taking the engine out?
Cheers

I would put some oil down the bores mate via the plugs and turn it over by hand with the plugs out and ignition off in case the bores are rusty.

If it's been a few years take the tank off and get rid of any old fuel, replace with fresh, drop the oil and filter and replace, give the plugs a clean and check the contacts.
Should be about it.
Once it's running maybe run some carb cleaner through it. Tyres will probably be past their best as well.
Edit - and titus's idea is a good one.

Yeah tyres are knackered, I'm not sure about the bores thing though how would I get the oil back out of the top of the cylinders again? I've got oil and filter to do this week, battery is goosed as well but it will work while its charging, fresh coolant. I'll whip the plugs off and clean them but they were new 2 years ago and I also cleaned the carbs around the same time so they shouldnt be bad, I'll get some fresh petrol for sure though thanks for the advice

You leave the oil in, although depending how long it is since it's been run it wouldn't hurt to pour some diesel down the bores - this will help free up the piston rings as well as act as a lube for when it fires up.
Do the diesel thing before you change the oil tho as the diesel will drain through and contaminate the oil.

That sounds mental, surely I wanna keep the top side of the pistons clean and free from oil not cover them?

The diesel will act as a penetrating oil and will help free up the rings if they're a little bit cruddy/seized - esp the oil control rings. Anything in there will burn away as soon as the engine starts. Honest
