I have an old tom tom XL device (a good 8-9 year old)
to power on the device i have to do a complete reset (press and hold for 20-30 seconds).
once it is powered on it works great via USB and battery.
once i have finished with it and press power button which puts it into sleep mode, I have to then do a full restart on the device by pressing and holding the button.
this is the same on and off battery. and has been factory reset.
IT more of an annoying problem as i rarely use it. but my partner just passing her test get frustrated with it.
any ideas.
am half tempted to buy a new device.

I have a tom Tom urban rider Chris and had similar issues.
I discovered that when I wasn't using it the battery would go right down and this condition caused me to have to re boot it all the time. Solved it by leaving it on a mains charger when I wasn't using it.
Might help.

Wait for it....... A bit more on the way...... I was meaning when you finish using bike and put it under its blanky for the night, take tom off bike, inside with you and stick it onto a mains charger so it effectively lives on charge whether on or off the bike. It'll just be down to the battery on being knackered. What.... ? I know I know, my technological abilities have moved on somewhat and I have now become a mind of useless information. Or you could just say I have too much time on my hands....

Or you could just say I have too much time on my hands.... you can never have too much time. but being a envirmentalist i like to ensure that things get turned off when they are not in use (jokes) the better half likes unplugging and moving things hence why it lives in glove box in the car i will give this go and see if it helps with the annoying problem as i can run a cable from car into glove box as Cigerate lighter socket doesn't turn off in the car. meaning it will always be on charge.
