Took the Busa for its MOT today to Geoff Towers over in Guisborough. 1st time using these guys. Damien was nice and friendly pointing out my numberplate was slightly taking the mick by a few inches. He then noted that the exhaust hanger bolt was only held on by about 2 threads ... Oops. Then he noticed that when my bike had bumped up into the brake tester, the rear wheel nut spun undone causing the rear wheel to move. Must have been the bump into the tester as I couldn't have possibly forgotten to tighten it up when I put my wheel back on. So the morals of this story are: - Don't get dodgy MOT's, as if this lot had been missed I probably wouldn't have made it home alive.
- When you are working on the bike DOUBLE check everything's back on and tight before going out.
Stay safe and roll on spring !!

Good post. I think that the main job of MOT testing on bikes is to make sure that the owner has tightened everything back up after a winter of maintenance. Goes some way to show the importance of the test

For me, an MOT is a safety check, not just a piece of paper allowing road tax to be purchased.
I like my bikes to be examined thoroughly, with any advisories highlighted.

Please be advised that not only have Redcar & Cleveland Council and /or their Trading Standards been notified about Bodge It & Scarpers gross dereliction of duty of care and responsibility with respect to my R65, (as has my MP & MEP, No 10, Seretary of State for and /or the DfB&S,Invermess CAB) that should never have left the garage only for me to have to quite literally push it back to the rear of Reid Street Guisborough, TS14 6DE have it splutter as it did adjacent Lockwood Beck and again, in Bransdale. This after it having earlier broke down on the A173 between Great Ayton & Stokesley when I then should have been returning home unhindered. And again spluttering in Upper Swaledale, Upper Wensleydale, Garsdale, West Allendale, South Tynedale and broke down again, in Upper Teesdale where upon yet again, my insurers, Carol NASH had to call on SOS (motorcycle recovery) to collect my motorcycle and self, where upon Sprockets yet again, refused to collect that which they should have restored and notably as advised by SOS, collected at their expense and restored to fully operational as it is now, since having been rectified at BRC. Please note that R&CBC registered my complaint but so too has the CAB added as such to their data base too....(BBC)Watchdog, has also since been notified about as such too.
