speak to kwacker steve... dont bother using onbe to remove the chain (and i wouldnt advise the use of an angle grinder) the best way ive found is using a set of good bolt croppers...

and i wouldnt advise the use of an angle grinder From past experience I will also vouch for this, 3 fingers removed later and I have learnt my lessson! No but in all seriousness, because of the design of the chain, the disc can quite easily catch and jump so yeah, use some other means of removal.

ive ground off the old chain with a flap disk through the heads of the soft link, have fitted the new chain but just happy with riviting the soft link with 2 hammers, well not when its my ass sitting on top of the thing lol

i changed mine using an angle grinder. no problems, used a pair of mole grips and nut to reseat the link and a hammer and piece of metal to "fix" the rivet. no drama . there is a video on here somewhere about changing a chain ... worked for me.

I could feel it wanting to kick back all the time when i did it, although I dont want to recommend anyone else using that method, I will be using it to remove my chain again when the time comes aha.

my disc was worn to about 2 1/2 " across, so it was spinning very fast. also helped the chain was on the sprocket at the time so no movement.

By 2 1/2" across i'm guessing you mean worn down by about that? It was probably having the speed set too low was the problem when i did it, unfortunately my grinder is abit shit and has number for the speed, and im not sure what RPM each setting is as i was a fool and threw away the manual, so I try not to be to adventures when it comes to the top end of the settings
