took my bike to carltons at whitby for mot and service, went to pick my bike back up on saturday passed its mot no problem, all well and good so i started to ride my bike home, just leaving the garage the bike started coughing and spluttering I just thought that it was cold so carried on home but the coughing didn't get any better so when I got home I phoned carltons up to say what was wrong he said take it for a long ride and bring it back if it's no better so I took it back to him. He said he couldn't do anything today as it will take an hour and a half to take the tank off. he says he'll need my bike back in the workshop I said ok I will pick it back up next saturday then came the excuses that he's going away for two weeks on thursday. Due to my work commitments I can't get there before saturday to collect it. He gave no appologies , no sorry or anything. I felt it was as though I had paid my money and he wasn't interested. I decided to bring the bike home with a view to taking it back in two weeks when he gets back from holiday. Came home and rang steve46 who suggested it may be due to loose sparkplug leads. Me and glad with the aid of the trusty haynes manuel took the tank off in less than half an hour (a task we now have down to a fine art taking about 5 minutes) and tried adjusting the plug leads. This didn't seem to make a lot of difference. Steve came over today with his expertise to give a hand. Bike seems slightly better but not 100% yet. Am going to give it a run out next weekend weather permitting. I should have listened to the advice of Aly and others to taken it to Frontline. A big thank you and +1 to steve for his help and advice.

Thanks Suziebear, we're planning on giving it a run out next weekend (weather permitting) to see if it just needs a good open up. Mind I'm just running my bike in so I can't keep up with him or thats my excuse for being slow One week to go then I'm on holiday for a week so hoping for some decent weather

been thinking steve I know it meant oiling the parts other beers can't reach but the reason you think it's blowing excess fuel off the pot thats missing is not igniting the fuel so the fuel is coming out and igniting where it can eg: exhaust and that why its popping so I think the next step is to take all plugs out to be checked I don't know whether this makes sense to you think I will buy a new plug and go from there ps greenman it a 1200 bandit

Yeh Ron you right plugs/ carbs all linked as you say could still be plugs but untill you replace plugs or plug you not gonna know its how far you go to rectify the problem and its more cash from your pocket that you should NOT pay out, in my opinion i would take the bike back to the prat and watch every thing he does, im sure a few TBs will come down with you, im the first

You could also check to see if any vacuum lines have not been refitted to the carbs as this would make it sound ill aswell causing it to run very lean giving backfire\spitting.
