I run my pirelli dragon super corsas at 36 f and 31 r. I have been told that the best thing to do for the track is to drop them both by 2 pounds to increase contact patch and heat up quicker, what's any one elses thoughts on this?

JP, Are you running a 180 or 190 Rear?
You will need to drop them a little more than a couple of PSI's, let me just check my little chart.

Ok, its depends on weather but lets say its 12 deg C thats your track temp base. You need to set them hot though not COLD!!!!! set them up cold temps at about 31 front and 28 rear, do a session as soon as you come back in get them checked and adjusted, your looking for 28 psi Rear (HOT TEMP) and 31 psi front (HOT TEMP). Decrease if the track and air temp drop. You have a 2-4 psi tolerance with temp adjustment so dont drop below those as a guide.

Cool, well you wont go far wrong with those settings as long as you set them hot so use your first two sessions as sighting and set up sessions. I always leave third session for the blatting and beating. Expect to see you doing 1,50's round there (p.s this is a joke, please dont attempt, crash then come back and make me feel super guilty) Wish I Was joining you.

Remember this rule through halls, "knee to Knee"
It translates to using your knees and thighs to ensure steady movement on the bike. So for example, your switching from right to left. Grip your left knee into the tank to pull your body up from the right hand side of the bike, dont even think about sticking your left out until your right is back firmly planted on the tank to be used as a grab point for sticking it out on the left, same goes when switching side to side. Use the tank as a centre point which as a rule you must always return back to before committing to anything else. This will help you keep your balance.
Please tell me if im being patronising, keep a fists distance from your man tackle and the tank at all times, this will ensure your knees are doing the gripping not your thighs, make sure you grip as hard as you can under braking to stop ANY weight being applied to the bars, with practice under heavy braking you should be able to tap the inside of your elbow and it push out, totally relaxed. This helps stability and also if it slips under braking your not imputting trough the bars.
60% rear and 40% front weight distribution in the corners, this means being on the gas when you hit the apex, not hard, just even roll, if your off the gas when cranked you just increase your chances of a low side.
Lines: Well, you have done it before so you know the track, no one can tell you how to do halls and the right hander so if they do ignore them, its a riders track and how you do it is the right way. The left hander at the end of start finish is flat in fourth on a 600, Go in early, run as wide as you can (if your in the middle you can go faster) so that you are on the wrong side of the track for entry to Charlies 1. Enter Charlies one on the right hand side, its a 3 apex bend 1, 2 and 3 charlies, miss the first (cos your on the right) hit the second and keep to the right hand side over the crest so you can stand it up on the fat part of the tyre and get the GAS ON big. Braking marker for the right hander at the end of park straight is the board markers over the crest, stay to the right hand side over the crest as there is less chance of the front getting light and keep it pinned, its tempting to back off before when your clocking 170+ and get to the left as your on the anchors.
All the others you will know and have your lines but the left hander on the approach to the mountain is cambered and grippy, if your on the gas this is flat out, so so hard to bin it there when all the physics of the track are working in your favour.
Im excited now, WANNA GO

nice one, good bit of advice there, it's charlies that i struggled with. i found it confusing and difficult to correct errors once i was commited to a line. Mansfield, hairpin and barns i had no trouble with. What i have this time to take with me is A4 sheets of paper with each corner on them, so i can draw down my thoughts and experiments. Should be knocking on 1:37's airwaves ducati record at this rate

So for example on anchoring, you need to be tucked "out" supporting your weight on the tank with your lower belly and anchoring yourself with your thigh gripping into the tank and your lower forearm on the upper part of the tank, For example, This is a picture of typical bad posture on a bike This is an example of good practiced posture, You will note, they are both of me
