" Biker killed in fatal collisionPolice investigating a fatal road traffic collision near Dalby Forest are appealing for witnesses to come forward. At approximately 4.10pm on Wednesday 4 May 2011, a black and red Yamaha YZF R6 motorcycle and a grey Fiat Stilo collided on the southbound carriageway of A169 between the Fox and Rabbit pub and Thornton-le-Dale. The rider of the motorcycle, a 31-year-old man from Hull, suffered fatal injuries in the incident and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them with information. Traffic Sergeant John Clayton, of Malton Road Policing Group, said: "I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision itself or saw either vehicle prior to the incident to get in touch. "The collision occurred just past the junction leading to Dalby Forest Drive and leisure complex and anyone who was in that area at the time of the incident could have information that can help the investigation. The road was closed was closed in both direction until 9.40pm as officers conducted their investigations into the collision. Thoughts with the family, its just another remindr that maybe we should think of doing some refresher training, just cos you can make a bike go fast doesnt mean you can ride a bike!! Me included!! Time to stop putting it off! its always very sad when we hear of a fellow biker being involved in a fatal(or even non fatal) accident, Lets remind ourselfs that bikes are our way of life not a way out of life!
