I know Garmin do a route builder, Dayglo swears by it. Put I think it costs £15 to download the software.

I used to put it on the memory card but if it has no memory card you may be able to access it through usb. You may need to use the tomtom home software to get to the internal memory, not tried it so not sure.

I got old tomtom Go 910 and remember in software (tomtom home) there was some option to plan your route but never tried it because 910is too big for bike use. And no memory cards -12Gb hard drive, everything you can do from your pc

The only one that I know does it (without any major geeky type messing about) is the garmin zumo series. It comes with some software called Mapsource which you use to plan your route. Once you've planned your route, connect up the device and the software allows you to transfer your route to the unit, press start and off you go.
It's an absolute godsend when your doing complex routes of b- and u/c roads that you're unfamilar with. If I didn't have it I'd be stopping every few minutes to look at a map.
(plus it's an mp3 player so I can listen to some tunes and it links up to my phone)

Just tried it and you can access tomtom memory through usb, you use the Tyre software and open google maps from there. Once you have create route you can save it and from the tomtom menu in Tyre you can send it to your ITN folder. Only problem so many versions of tomtom and not all support itn function, i have tomtom one version one and no support, version 2 has support but version 3 does not. Think its similar with XL version so just try it and see is all you can do.
