Went out on my VFR400 yesterday up to helmsly, on the way back it decided that from great broughton to stockesly it was going to run like it had little petrol, (felt like two cylinders).
Started to run fine again from stocksley to home (yarm) then later on when i went out on it, it cut out when i arrived at my destination, an hour later it just wouldnt start, finally started it on full choke and it was definately not running on all 4 cyclinders, managed to get it home after it cut out 3 times.
then it startted to run fine again on the drive.
things i've done to it since i started riding again:
Bigger main jets (110 to 120) De restricor box in speedo housing new air filter new oil filter new oil carb clean new spark plugs valve clearance check

Does it have a big lump of plastic above the cylinders with the plug leads going through it?, I know on Blades and the EXUP it was quite a challange getting everything put back right, maybe a plug lead has popped off.. or the airbox come adrift
If it was the de restrict0r it wouldn't rev past 4000, but low revs it would be fine

Does it still have a sidestand switch? older honda used to have problems with the switch on the clutch, making them run like a dog.. WD40 used to work.. look for the obvious then try that

Had a similar problem with the vfr. Turned out to be one of the coil packs over heating. If your handy with a multimeter then have a poke around when the bike is cold and then hot. Or do what I do, check all the cheapest possibilities firs lol.
