Went for a quick blast down there today after having a ride round, got half way down and theres a copper in the middle of the road blocking it telling everyone to turn around due to a "serious accident"
Anyone know if it was a biker involved? saw the air ambulance heading out that way as i was riding out so never a good sign

We both know that feeling Gordon and it is the worst thing that can go wrong. Lets hope all involved are OK.

that road claims lifes every year. Ive ridden it too fast previously and when theres a group of you its easy to get carried away. I think its only when you get older you realise the bigger picture. Is that road really worth dieing for ? Its a great road but its not THAT good. Id love to know how many people have got their bikes out for the first time this year. . Havent checked tyre pressures and have ridden that road too fast. . I bet the figure is over fifty !

Hope they are okay.
My mate hit a deer today on the helmsley to stokesley road, luckily he was fine and said he didn't do too much damage to his bike, but couldn't say the same for the poor deer.
In an ideal, if unrealistic world, it would be nice if a sunny day could pass without having to hear about someone on a bike being hurt or killed....

I remember once travelling on the A66 doing about, well lets say a little above the speed limit, and a deer ran out about 30 foot in front of me. knowing what deer are like, I knew there would be a second one following it, so I accelerated instead of braking.
Sure enough a second deer ran out, by this time it was about 20 foot behind me. Would I have hit it if I hadn't accelerated? Probably, I think bikers develop a sixth sense.

True i remember when i used to gun the VFR up to lord stones a couple of years ago, I had our lass on the back and a pheasant ran out. its mad how slow it went i remember thinking about what would happen if i braked hard. so i just tucked in and hit it full on in my face, then up over and into our lasses face! It could have ended a lot worse if i'd of tried the RSPCA friendly method

absolutely and well said, great road but can catch many out, start of the season so many are rusty, and everyone should check tyres, presures, brakes, etc. Things do change and you don't want to find out whats wrong when your tipping it into a bend after braking! Check out your bike! It could save you life !
