Ok this is a long story, I bought a YBR 125 from Acklams in Harrogate and have had problems with the fork seals since I got it. I will post my communications log with the dealer.
April 2011 Got the bike 21st April 2011 – Email to Acklams reporting Front fork seals 22nd April reply from Ray asking to take it in to look at 22nd April – Email to Acklams to ask when to take round 22nd April reply from Ray saying to bring it round that day 22nd April – Email to Acklams asking if I will have to leave it 22nd April reply from Ray saying I wont have to leave it 28th April 2011 Went to Acklams to get Seals checked, was there less than 10 minutes, they said nothing wrong. 03rd May 2011 – Email to Acklams advising that the seals were leaking and requesting a change of them as had bike only a month 09th May 2011 - Email to Acklams asking for a response to previous email 10th May 2011 reply from Ray saying ordered new seals 23rd May 2011 – Email to Acklams asking if seals have come in 24th May 2011 reply from Ray saying ordered, not in yet 26th May 2011 reply from Ray to say seals in stock 26th May 2011 – Email to Acklams saying I was working in Harrogate 6th June 2011 and I could bring bike in then 26th May 2011 reply from Ray saying that’s fine 6th June 2011 Took bike in to get Seals done 10th June 2011 – email to Acklams complaining that the left hand side seal has gone again 17th June 2011 – email to Acklams asking for a response to earlier email 20th June 2011 reply from Ray saying must be a problem with chrome on fork for seal to leak again he said ordered new leg and seals 27th June 2011 – email to Acklams on a ride out and fork seal went, noticed as had no front break. On inspection oil covered wheel, disc and mudguard.
Bike is now un ridable as not safe. I still have not had a response form the dealer, I have emailed the Finance company and got nothing from them either.
Can anyone let me know what my options are as I am not happy with the service at all and at the moment I just want to hand it back to them as it isn't fit for purpose, but not sure where I would stand with Finance company.
Thanks Graham

Right now I'd just go with the flow and see if the the fork leg turns up. My sis is battling with a car dealer over a snapped cam shaft in a BMW and its been on going for nearly 4 months now, at least Acklams are doing something so I wouldn't rock the boat just yet
ike MUD said, phone them, and keep calm

Problem with going with the flow is they seem to take weeks now to reply, prob because they know i'm pissed off.
I didn't expect all this rubbish when going to a dealer. I'm getting to the point where I just want to hand it back!

not good at all mate as you said you expect a little back up service when you spend the extra cash on a dealer bike rather than a private sale ... i would say ring them see what response you get if that is not satisfactory then ask for the manager if no joy there then you want the area manager again no joy there then the next one up ect ect untill you get the answer / service you want .. try to stay calm and reasonable as that always gets a more productive response good luck

bugger there will be a higher power somewhere everyone has to answer to someone! you just may have to dig really hard to find out who and if not then as said by someone go to Yammy to complain about the service received from one of their dealers but as a last resort

Yamaha can't be blamed for poor service at the moment as they know nothing of the fault. They will have a regional manager who should take this kind of thing up with their dealerships to ensure customer satisfaction. My advice would be to raise the bar to Yamaha. Not 100% sure on the legislation for you to effectively reject a vehicle, but i'm fairly sure that you have to show that you've explored all options. By raising the issue with Yamaha and recording communication as you have will prove the steps you've taken. I'm confident that Yamaha UK will take the matter seriously.

my advise would to go to Citazins Adive Bureau (CAB) office see what they say,.. and then e-mail acklams informing that you are seeking legal advice about the matter unless the fault is resolved quickly. they will either sit back and laugh or will do something if they sit back and laugh you go to the trading standards and report them for poor service,. they will investigate the matter. although this still leaves you without your bike. if it is your only mood of transport i would leave it another week and then get intouch with another garage to fix the problem explain the situation. this will obviously leave you out of pocket a bit but the next step would be to e-mail the orginal garage requesting they pay you the money back,.. they prob will say no but no harm in trying. if they say no take them to Small Claims Court,. this can be a tricky situation as if they win you end up with court costs to,. but if you seek legal advice from CAB then they will tell you if you stand a chance or not,.. if you win the battle they will have to pay you and the court costs. as you may be aware keep hold of any communcations with any of the companys as proof or the other way round is send the heavy mob in

Thing is with aklams its like dealing with a majorly PMSed up woman, no offense ladies but its the best way to describe it.
One moment hes nice and trying to help you out, the next he wants to stab you unless your throwing money in his face
