bought myself a cheapie fliptop nitro lid at bikewise for£70 and thought id let you know what i thought always fancied one but they were a bit pricey and never fancied a cheap lid until i spoke to sliders and they pointed out that the cheaper lids were beating the more expensive shoeis and arais in the safety stakes. so bought this black nitro and am quite impressed plus points cheap, pin locked ready for insert, quick release visor, dual visors (dark visor on the inside see pic), removeable liner (bonus for me with my sweaty head) and flip over front negative points noisey, flip over mechanism is a bit touchy though i think it will improve the more i use it and thts it solved the noisey bit by stealing my daughters old mp3 player (simondo would love it its pink) and loading mettalica and megadeath onto it and am just fighting with the mechanism for now. conclusion great value for money lets see how it stands up to the test of time

Any statistics on the cheaper lids beating the more expensive ones? Just I wanted to buy an arai or shoei, but if cheaper lids are safer then I don't see the point in payin so much

I have had the matt version (F348) of this for a couple of years now, the mechanism does get easier, both visors are still in good nick its comfy on a 3 hour ride too, mine was over £100 when i got it, the downsides are they are a bit noisy and also the seal on the top rim that stops rain going in through the top and down the inside of the visor is worn and cant find a replacement so i get as much water inside as i do outside BTW I got mine from MSG and was in there on saturday looking at the Caberg Konda flip...looks gud ;D

Julie has worked her socks off this morning doing this for us to give you all the info (thank you julie ) have a look here for the different helmets available at sliders and their spec ... i was quite surprise at the high safty standards the lower end helmets are.. i was always led to belive you needed to spend £100 + for a helmet to be worth it but i am rapidly changing my mind and in this current climate any money saved has to be good right?? click here for the info www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.216050588447869.68093.100001287870281

I dragged an cheapo Kangol lid down the road at 60mph and it was scary to see how deep the scratches were.. glad it wasn't my head lol, we tried to destroy it and it wouldn't break we tried everything you shouldn't do to a poly carbonate lid, they don't mention sledge hammers but it passed that test too Ike everything with bikes it depends on the accident and everything that goes with it, sadly you can't retest with a cheaper or more expensive lid if it doesn't go so well.. When I get a new lid we'll see what a nitro 800v can stand

i knew that some of the cheaper lids rate the same or even better than the more expensive lids,
but from memory when i looked a few years ago arnt the more expensive lids are put through a lot more extensive testing by the companies that make them?

yea but i think there is an independent standerd all lids have to come up to for the star rating i dont think companys can rate there own product
