BMW (in conjunction with Castrol), have down-graded the engine oil specification from 10w-50 Fully Synthetic API SL to 15w-50 Part Synthetic API SJ.

Had this debate on another forum, and consensus was to stick with the original spec oil, as it was first advised for a reason, and for a British climate to boot. The oil in question is the same grade as BMW, which was originally decided upon as the engines were race derivatives, and most of them get a good caning as well. |

Exactly what I will be doing, the 10w-50 Fully Synthetic oil has BMW Special Approval for HP-2 Sport, the same motor as used in my RT. |

Unless my grasp of english has suddenly deserted me, 'derived from' doesn't mean the 'same as'. They're both dohc but I think you'll find yours is about 30 bhp down on the sport. Similar power to the hp2 enduro though iirc. |

Just shows what a load of old cobblers mcn puts out - it's about as far removed from an RT as is possible. The HP2 sport is the most focussed bike I've ridden and I'd sell the kids for one. |

DIY and/or use Mick Kendrick to save £'s over BMW Dealer costs.
Completed a 6,000 miles service for £82.77, I wonder how much BMW would charge for the same service.
BMW Oil Filter £12.74
