well i bought a pair of protective trouses from them which just fell to pieces with crappy sowing so i took them back for an exchange but they didnt have the same one in so they exchanged them for a significantley more expensive pair of frank thomas trousers. always seem quite friendley when i go.

We deal with Tillstons a fair bit and I originally thought the bloke in the little shop was a right surly sod but now find him quite funny, always get a good deal and usually a freebie to boot (But that's maybe because I'm a cheeky sod and shy bairns get nowt)

Must say i called into the shop a while ago with the intention of buying a new bike only to be ignored by the guy behind the counter so didnt hang about and wont be going back in a rush.

tillys is allright imo, gary always sorts me and me mates out on gear at very resonable prices, i also managed to get a bit knocked of for me spares that i buy from the parts shop. Always had a no hassle experience with them just like most me mates but if you dont know what there like they may come across a bit unprofesional in some ways i suppose lol

Guy behind the counter is a miserable git who always seems to make you feel like you're wasting his time. Not something that would get me going back in a hurry. I've heard the bike sales side of it is ok but I'd rather go out of my way to another bike shop for spares than go back there

I was like ninjabear until i actually met the guy behind the counter ( gary ) at squires and spoke to him out of work.. To be honest he is actually a very nice guy who will give anyone the time of day... I suppose if he meets 500 people a day and is stuck behind that counter to be honest i wouldnt be too happy either, but to give him a little credit after i met him, every time i go in now he is more than happy to help me and knows me by my name and remembers me. He will do everything in his power to help ya but again to be honest he has not got that much power at tilstons because they keep him tied down behind that counter...
keep up the good work Gary you have restored my FAITH in tilstons.. you have never caused me any problems its only the other numpty's that cause me problems... JUST WHERE A SMILE ( your never fully dressed without a smile... sang in the style of annie ) lol

Bought my bike from them, find them ok but a tad expensive. Same as above regarding Gary, he always seems liek he has the weight of the world on his shoulders, however a chap at work knows him very well and assures me hes good as gold.. I guess I will find out next time.

I guess I will find out next time. quite an accurate description, I think garry is about the best bloke in there. Myself and titus were in there last week and had a bit of a crack on with him, yes they are dear when it comes to buying bikes, but being too poor to be able to afford a new bike, it hardly affects me. Tillstons has got at least 4 buildings now, the front shop, the honda building, the suzuki building and the workshop. They must be doing something right ! Titus did manage to get a LOT better deal on his new bike by shopping around, but its amazing how many people go back to Tillstons year after year for new bikes. Garry in the front shop is pretty good when it comes to giving you a price on parts, even if he does'nt jump up and follow you around pouring you tea.... I got some new pads for the SP1 and he was pretty helpful to me. The bottom line was that i got a better deal there than at another local honda dealer. I dread too think what the building rates are for all of that property (given that its bang in the center of town) but I can kind of understand why he is not the cheapest. Nevertheless, i think it would be VERY handy to all of Teesside Bikers if this business sponsored us. Is anyone mates with Bob or Peter?

I think the different manufacturers insist on separate buildings for their stock, can't have the suzukis slumming it with the hondas now can we?
Same here - found them expensive on the bikes. I bought a new dl1000 a couple of years ago and they couldn't/wouldn't get anywhere near the best quote I got.

Bought an RST Rift textile jacket from them in january at a nice price, had a problem with the stitching last week and had no problems at all getting it exchanged.

We bought Wendy`s first bike there in the summer last year, ( 125 Yam Custom ), we thought the deal we got was good, and the bike was ready on the day they said it would be. Took it back 2 weeks later after some old sod had crashed into it on a roundabout, they had a chew on getting some of the parts and it went over the time they said it would be back, in the end they had to take parts off another bike in the shop so we could have ours back......... all in all i was happy with them and would use them again

i've never really used them for servicing or purchasing, but i did go in about my VFR400 and the guy in the honda section was helpfull. gave me all the info i needed. but i've been in the shop section and the bloke behind the counter is the grumpiest Tw*t. i went to buy some castrol GPX as there the only place that stocks it round here and he looked at me like id just came in at christmas and weed on his kids. didnt even speak to me then just handed me the oil and said the price and that was it. very bad attitude i thought as i wont be going there unless i deperatley need something. not the shop section anyway

I think its like anywhere its who you see when you get there. Had a bad time in tillys parts dept, bloke behind the counter to busy talking to his mate to serve, once he did get to me i asked for the bits i was after and he just said dont stock it, asked him to order it answer was come back tomorrow i dont order stuff. Person i saw in the clothing part could not be more helpful.

Heres a bit of free advice, when you go in be calm, Please dont go in there shouting! ask if you can have a word with someone in private about some defective gear that you have bought, no one likes a public argument in front of other customers.(and its bad for business) show them the kit and explain politely that your disappointed and you expected better. If you have reciepts, then take them.. but for defective gear you dont need them technically They will probably offer to change it, but if they dont (unlikely) tell them that you will seek further advice as you believe that items sold should be "OF MERCHANTABLE QUALITY AND FIT FOR PURPOSE" Passing the attitute test is the best way to getting what you want. Remember, Tillstons have been around a long time and you dont survive that long by doing things the wrong way. Polite but firm is the way James
